The Erlangen Vesicle Initiative (EVI) brings together clinician and medical-scientists, basic researchers, and technical experts from FAU’s Medical and Natural Sciences Faculties, the MPZPM, MPI, and Siemens Healthineers. Since May 2023, EVI has driven patient-focused EV research by fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, sharing core platforms for EV isolation, characterization and functional analyses, adhering to MISEV standards. Our work spans mechanistic studies, diagnostic biomarker development, and therapeutic applications of EVs in infectious, inflammatory, degenerative, and neoplastic diseases. Through the EVI umbrella we train emerging scientists in translational EV research—advancing discoveries from messenger to medicine.
If you are interested to join, please do not hesitate to contact Prof. Dr. Claudia Günther from the Department of Medicine 1 or PD Dr. Philipp Arnold from the Institute of Functional and Clinical Anatomy.
